Beer - #336 - ParrotDog - Pitbull

I have low expectation for this - ParrotDog Pitbull American IPA - it rates poorly and despite a really strong start it has all gone wrong since for me this evening.

Brewed by ParrotDog Brewing this in the style of an  India Pale Ale (IPA) and they are in the all happening Wellington, New Zealand.

Delivered as a Bottle of  7.0% ABV beer in a 330 ml bottle, 1.8 standard drinks, 210 calories.... nothing to see here...

How quickly and easily America forgets its heroes. Owned by three American presidents and given the highest military honours of any other breed, the American Pit Bull Terrier is a very misunderstood dog. It was even used at America’s canine military mascot during the First World War. However, it’s own extreme power and aggressiveness – which ultimately led to its much less-than-favourable status in today’s society – cannot be underestimated. And neither can this beer. PitBull has a huge, pungent American-hopped aroma that leaps out of an equally sized rich, golden malt base. The finish is very bitter. This is our most aggressive beer yet in terms of malt, hop and alcohol levels – you’ve been warned

They say.

Lots go green hops in the aroma, thats a wake up call! Lots of carbonation and lively head that you can hear full of bubbles, and it persists too!

Sweet hop aroma in the glass too, nice chestnut brown pour.

Taste:

Well, yes and not. I burped the hop burp which is a good sign I think

Focus on the taste. It's grassy, dry all over but with not much length and edges out your tongue which isn't a good thing. This is a beer that you'll need to recover or finish from. I'm not actually sure I'd like to finish like this.

Overly dry finish then for the front palate delivery, some sweetness up front but it's a bit compressed and try-hard.

Aroma is magnificent thought, not after-shave worthy but I might be tempted.

Pdubyah-o-meter rating this averagely at 7 , I can't help what the random thing says. It's a tough field to play in, and this plays hard and fair but doesn't have the game face.

I finish the evening on a bit of an upper though as this is  bit challenging instead of being on the run. The aroma promises a bunch of hop bitterness which as the beer warms begins to deliver in the glass, but it really is compressed.

There was Foodage earlier. Like 4 beers into the evening, Anyway earlier we had this feast and I had Eileen Jewel on the iPod, it's not everyones taste, the music that is

A Lamb Jalfrezi, the lamb having been marinaded all day, fried and then the things added, it was bit a bit good

Chicken thigh Masala , which was really nice

Chick pean and other vegetable nonsense things, this was startlingly good!

Paratha flat breads, rice, and background music, conversation... but I chose Eileen Jewel, it's not everyones taste

INDIA PALE ALE & IPA

India Pale Ale gets its name and unique style from British brewers who were making beer for export to India. This style has an intense hop flavor which was used to preserve the beer for the long voyage. India Pale Ale has a golden to copper color with a medium maltiness and body. The aroma is moderate to very strong. IPAs work especially well at cutting the heat of chili, vindaloo or Sichuan cuisine.
