Moa Methode is bottle fermented and conditioned to give a natural, more consistent carbonation and flavour. Due to the natural brewing process of Methode Moa, a light, beneficial sediment will remain. This sediment protects the beer from premature aging and leaves full, slightly spicy characters on the palate.
Moa Methode is a German style pilsner with a high bitterness balanced with a relatively full mouth feel. Citrus hop characters dominate aroma with the presence of fresh bread yeast notes. It can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a strong yeast character is desired.
Moa Methode is a complex pilsner best served in a pilsner glass at approximately 6˚C to maximise aromatic release.
'k... or from the fridge in my case. Foil, cork and Cage make this a performance beer.
Lovely pop, and familiar sour type aroma of a Pilsner. Intensly lovely in the glass. Pour is pale golden orange with a head like an ice-cream sundae.
So you have to try and drink a few inches of foam before you get to a beer, the foam isn't that bad, it just lacks body :-)
Shows no signs of becoming becalmed so I have to work my way through the suds.
This is quite sweet for a Pilsner type beer, where you might be expecting more a hop chomp bite on the tongue and in the mouth, this does not seem to be there with this. But that could be a good thing as this makes this a bit easy drinking and at 5% ABV you could have a couple and still be able to talk sense about the draft picks.
So the head is still a thing, but this now doesn't appear to have the hop nip.
This really is easy drinking though, and that would make it quaffable and sessionable. It's a beer that does not need all your attention either and is a companion to whatever it is you''re doing and not the point of discussion itself.
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 8 a of its things from the thing. I would liked to have had more hop bite, I would like to have less aromatic sweetness. I'm glad I have enough to have another, because that's what I'm going to be doing. Get in!
The double dip review
- Am I enjoying it? Yes
- Would I have another? Yes
- Would I share with a friend on a porch and set the world to rights? Yes
Lstening to the more than affable Album from The Horrors - This is "So Now You Know" , the album is Luminous. It's on Spotify and all good places.

PILSENER
While the definition of "pilsner" is open to much debate in the beer community, it generally refers to pale, hoppy lagers, ranging from 28IBUs and up.
'more than affable', eh? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt was played at least three times, the LP. It'll be on again tomorrow.
