Larkings Landing, Beach Haven, Auckland

I had some time on my hands today, and went a wandering. I found this;

Hilders Park, Or Larkings Landing if you prefer. Down some steps to the Sea Scout hut,  a moored Play boat that seems to be allowed to wander as it's tether and tides take it, more seats with dedications to dead people than is prudent (all painted deep institutional green) , and  at least 3 public barbecue machines.

Bit of a find really

You'll seem I'm still a thing for geometric shapes and got a tad muddy getting under the wharf, I just can't help myself.

Sporting your life vicariously – the last Tournament – Pictures and Video

Some of the pictures from the last game of College Hockey for #2 Daughter - Federation Cup 2012 - Carterton - there is a YouTube too, just because I discovered how to do that !

The movie has the sequence in order of an obstruction call that she didn't get given and ends with some hand waving and chirping of the umpire. Wonder where she get's that from :-)

The game Rangitoto College against Palmerston North Girls for 13/14th place. It ended 5-2 to Rangitoto who were altogether the better team.

From the St Cuthbert's ANZAC Hockey Festival.

I wrote about the saga of the School Uniform blazers. These are just a few of the picture I took of MissPdubyah at the St Cuthbert's ANZAC Hockey Festival which is a secondary schools pre-season 3 day event, attracting visiting teams from all over the country.

I was at North Head - The guns and tunnels…

North Head Devonport, North Shore.  It seems to have undergone a slow transformation, and still seem in need of some TLC. But it's fairly accessible and an easy hour of your time.

We've always taken a torch, there are a few nooks and crannies that need one, and a couple of passageways that having a torch helps with.

And the walk along the water was pleasant and in some measure was its own adventure.

Stories are told that there are 2 planes from the war buried inside, In the mid nineties the Army was called in to jack hammer and try to find these planes supposedly in the hill. Local residents were told possible ammunition still fully charged could go off at any time, but nothing was found after several weeks work. Many of the tunnels now days are blocked and the public can only go so far.
Nothing like  a good conspiracy to keep it interesting.

The one with the Motivationals

These were sent to me some time ago, along with a bunch of "candid" Wal-Mart people pictures. Someone somewhere has a lot of time, and a fair dollop of humor on their hands.

Like a blog, photo's are a bit personal too

I'm not so good at pictures, but I'm not that good at writing either so why should that be stopping me right :-).

I often look at pictures and think they're brave or daring, and for that reason, and because I have an almost compulsive fascination  with straight lines and order, most of my pictures are people free. I have a lot of pictures, some of which I like, some I keep because not keeping them doesn't seem to be an option, and a few, very few are worth sharing.

But on reflection, these are some pictures from yesterday that  I decided I like enough and well this is all about me isn't it, so here goes.

Oh yeah I cropped, colored, straightened, and did some terrible things with the original pictures not like a boss but like a ham-fisted oaf, but I got what I wanted.

Tattoo You!

Tattoo devotee Deryn Stephenson poses during The Tattoo Jam Festival on August 5, 2011 in Doncaster, England. The Tattoo Jam Festival is Britain's biggest gathering of tattoo professionals and skin art devotees. The event hosts over 300 artists working in the exhibition hall of Doncaster Racecourse revealing their latest designs and techniques. (Christopher Furlong/Getty Images)
Tattoo art seems to play an important part in many lives, and these images are some I found that show the whole range of emotion, need and desire that you have with tattoo art.

RWC entertains me today - the entertainment.

This is all a bit new, taking pictures of people, except for the statue. It's a bit like this blog, a good idea unless someone knows .

I'd do most things

But there are a couple that I wouldn't do.

As a youth, many ages ago, I used to wear two ear-rings in one ear, which for the time was pretty radical! I imagine. I used to have 'streaks' dyed into my hair, variously gold, red, green. I used to wear 'punk' type clothes.

But you know I've never wanted a tattoo. Ever. Not that they aren't worthwhile but they are when all is said and done pretty pointless. Very.

As works of art yes. As statements, no.

There are grades of pointless. Small tattoos in Kanji or Cyrillic in the small of your back, very very pointless. Tattoo the name of someone in same or worse in ye olde Englishe script on your forearm - über pointless.

Tattoo's where you can't see them, pointless. Tattoo on your face or neck where people can see them - stunningly pointless. Unless it's a cultural thing like a Moko then it's very cool.

Fair play if you like tattoo's, to me they scream of needy kid, very needy kid, with a hole in their life that needs filling. If you're so bereft of self then tattoos are for you.

And in response to the dozens of hits I get looking for a "mary tattoo" it could be these you seek, although for the life of me I have no idea why you would.
