Beer - #334 - Saison Dupont - Vieille Provision

A little bit fancy! Saison Dupont - Vieille Provision Brewed by Brasserie Dupont This is in the style of a  Saison and they hide their light  in Tourpes-Leuze,

Belgium SaisonSaison Dupont is a world classic beer and the yardstick for one of Belgium’s most important beer styles. It is the most admired AND imitated Saison in the world. A strong, vital yeast is key to full attenuation and thus to the style. Saison Dupont is straw colored with a dense creamy head. The nose is alive, like fresh raised bread, estery with citrus and spice notes. Full-bodied and malty, it sparkles on the palate and finishes with a zesty hop and citrus attack. Incredibly compatible with food!

Or after all the food and the last beer (laugh maniacally) of the night.... Focus Philip! .... this is a  330ml bottle of an 6.5% ABV beer, 1.69 standard drinks, under 200 calories.

Saison Dupont - Vieille ProvisionReally dry aroma, can you have that? Lemons...

Totally lively pour, lots of head, light orange golden pour, again I should think this through more...

I was expecting more yellow golden. Lots of the yeasty esters that you might expect from this, lots of head- as you can see,

I still have the thing. This is sharp at the back of the palate, not a comfortable thing, slightly sour, but it seems to be balanced by the sweetness that's the up-front of this. All said though  this isn't a beer with presence or clout, or presence, and that in itself is a bit disappointing. I might have expected something 'bigger' or more 'in-your-face" because just because.

The pdubyah-o-meter though being it's usual predictable self would stretch to 7 something like a  on the scale of things.  Sever- makes that 'good' which is stretching it a little, but I'll leave that to the 3-point-turn

  1. Am I enjoying it?  Not really, it's thin and lacking

  2. Would I have another?  Nooooooo, not like this

  3. Would I share with a friend on a porch and set the world to rights?  I think that there would be a diplomatic incident of Brobdingnagian proportions if I turned up with this.

And so I shall sit right down musically  when it it went to the pack, but not really...David Bowie - Sound and Vision....

I remember this for a young love thing, Battersea park, a drive in a Ford Fiesta and being really wet from the rain. It's a long story .

That annoying top ten list stuff - The Music

I've touched on music a bit in other places here and hereabouts

There are a few musics I'd like to call out. To place them in an order wouldn't do them a justice, they are things that are dear to me and that I'd like to journey with, but I'm going to give it a go....

  1. David Bowie - Station to Station

    • This has never left me as music, the haunting tracks, the all of them, everyone of them, you want me write more on how?

  2. Elbow - Seldom Seen kid

    • If you have to ask then don't ask.

  3. Dire Straits - Dire Straits

    • This is some serious guitar thing, and lyrics, and it's about time and place.

  4. Yazoo - Upstairs at Erics and/or you and me both.

    • A time in my life when my Honda CX500TCC turbocharged motorcycle, and becoming an adult, and this in my walkman stereo - what!

  5. Status Quo - Live

    • If I could go back and have a bit "of the bit, right" then that'd be me!

    • Because Andy Heatherly  for this, Think Lizzy and Rush

  6. Donald Fagan - The NighyFly -

    • because it reminds me  of a girl I once knew. Don't mention this to MrsPdubyah.

  7. Paul Simon - Graceland

    • This is me being released from home and family and being my own self on my own as a being.

  8. Dire Straits - Communiqué

    • because "News" is about the motorcycles that I miss so much

  9. Coldplay - Parachutes

    • after 5 or 6 plays this is a piece of brilliance. Listen without prejudice.

  10. Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn, Side 2. Then Tubular Side One....

Supplemental.... Your own personal favourites in one "mix tape from 10.....

Music (was my first love)...

Not so much that I didn't have to look up the lyrics of that song though
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaMApWem9RM]

So anyway I was thinking about the music that I like and if I could pick just the best albums, albums that I'd sit down to without distraction and enjoy them. This is a list of albums that I've found I've often gone back to, despite having a lot of music on the shelf.

No point listing them in any order,

And so it came to pass that I added these since

It's not exactly a well thought out list by any means, and I'm now fretting that I've possibly forgotten a gem that I'm going to have to add later
