Brewed by Green Man Brewery (NZ) to the style that is India Pale Ale (IPA) and they are in Dunedin, New Zealand
This is a 500ml bottle (17fl oz), of beer that is 63 IBU things, 5% ABV making it 165 calories a serve and 200 for the bottle and 2 standard drinks units in NZ.
I've noticed various ABV measures for this beer too, I'd suggest that might be the batch brewing process variation but am open to correction.

Lively opening, aroma though is more the sourness that you get from Belgium style beers, I thought.
Darker than I expected in colour as a pour, a goodly sized head that appears persistent. Aroma still that off sour.Bitter! Gosh yes. Really sharp and at the front , with not a lot of length and no finish. Strange-ish but not totally unpleasing,
Fairly easy drinking even if the initial taste is tartly bitter. So a beer that should slot in the "Session" category. Can't shake that sense of "Belgium yeast" in this though. Might be why I like it as I do.
The IPA category is, I have mentioned before, a highly competitive arena. This take on an IPA lacks any of the grassiness, or the floral notes, the middle part of the malts and it could do with a more tart finish than it has.
But it's drinkable, scarily easy so. But I think that might be for reasons that appeal my palate rather than this being like an IPA that would be familiar and recognisable.
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 7 a of its things from the thing. I've stumbled into a bunch of really acceptable beers lately, nothing spectacular or outstanding but a rich vein of acceptable. This is an okay beer, with a strange profile that isn't really like IPA, but has an appeal to me, so I like it.
The double dip review
- Am I enjoying it? Yes but not for the right reasons I suspect.
- Would I have another? I could probably do that.
- Would I share with a friend on a porch and set the world to rights? I think that this would be ok to share a few of over sportsball.

INDIA PALE ALE & IPA
India Pale Ale gets its name and unique style from British brewers who were making beer for export to India. This style has an intense hop flavor which was used to preserve the beer for the long voyage. India Pale Ale has a golden to copper color with a medium maltiness and body. The aroma is moderate to very strong. IPAs work especially well at cutting the heat of chili, vindaloo or Sichuan cuisine
